School Experience and Teaching Practice

School Experience and Teaching practice are courses that aim to enable the prospective teachers to try and develop their knowledge and skills in a school environment or an institution and to gain the features required by the profession. 

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, it was decided at the Senate meeting of Trakya University on 15. 02. 2021 to conduct the 2020-2021 academic year spring term courses in our Faculty through the means of distance education (synchronous-online) in order to carry out the education and training processes in our university in a healthy way. According to the decision taken by the Senate, it is required that both theoretical and practical courses carried out in cooperation with schools or various institutions should be delivered in digital environment by distance education. In addition to this, the Senate decided that, “Attendance is not required for theoretical courses to be held by distance education in 2020-2021 Academic Year Spring Semester; however, for the courses that have practice, application etc., the administrative body of each faculty will announce its decision on the faculty website”. In this context, with the decision of Faculty Board of Education dated 25.02.2021 and the decision of the Board of Directors, it was decided to seek attendance requirement for Teaching Practice and some similar courses, and the courses that require attendance were announced on the Faculty of Education website (Click for more information). Courses like Teaching Practice, which are both theoretical and practical, will be conducted in line with the School Experience and Teaching Practice Guide, Edirne Provincial Directorate of National Education's letter dated 09.02.2021 and numbered 20375023 and Distance Education Guide prepared for teacher trainees, mentors and supervisors.

In the guide, the subjects to be covered in 1-14 weeks and the assignments and activities to be done by the students have been determined, while the subjects and achievements previously determined for formal education have been taken into consideration. The principles under which the process will be carried out are explained in detail in the guidelines. During the theoretical hours of lessons such as Teaching Practice and School Experience, instructors will teach students in defined teams in Microsoft Teams, and practices will be carried out by including teacher candidates in the digital environment where the school teacher will teach.
